The Aonic 2 is a high-end EN-A wing that combines passive safety, agility and efficiency.
1. General description
High-end EN / LTF A model, designed to combine safety and performance.
A technically advanced ‘High-A’ wing, but still suitable for training.
51 cells, giving it excellent profile fidelity for an EN-A wing.
‘Reduced’ line plan: only two levels of lines (lower + upper lines), with no intermediate lines, reducing drag and simplifying line management.
Optimised brake geometry: more attachment points for even brake distribution, improving flare during landing.
Improved pitch stability and during collapses: the wing remains calmer in active air, reducing stress on the pilot
2. Target group
The Aonic 2 is particularly aimed at:
Pilots who have completed their first solo flights and want a more ‘serious’ wing than their training wing, but without sacrificing safety.
Fans of the Aonic 1 who want to improve their precision, performance and thermal efficiency.
‘Leisure/thermal’ pilots who want a good compromise between passive safety and performance.
Pilots returning after a break who are looking for a reliable and reassuring wing.
In short: for those ‘who don't want to be over-challenged, but don't want to be under-challenged either.’
3. Materials & Construction
Leading edge: Porcher Skytex 38 (38 g/m²), very robust and resistant.
Upper and lower surfaces: Skytex 27 Classic 2 (double layer, 29 g/m²) — UV resistant, without slippery silicone.
Internal structure (bars): Skytex 32 Hard Finish — low stretch to maintain profile fidelity over time.
Lines: combination of sheathed lines (durable) + drag-optimised lines.
Riser lines: 20 mm Kevlar according to Nova.
4.Technologies & Innovations
Optimised Air Scoop: air intake that increases the internal pressure of the wing, improving structural stability and resistance to creases.
Sleeve loops: instead of splitting the sleeves and sewing them, Nova loops them entirely — fewer seams, optimised folded volume, durability.
Double 3D Shaping: additional seams to smooth the leading edge, limit creases, and improve performance.
Intelligent Light concept: a selection of lightweight materials in low-stress areas and more robust materials where necessary — a balance between weight and durability.
5.Scope of delivery
According to Nova/retailers:
Nova Aonic 2 wing
Internal compression bag (‘Stuff Sack’)
Bag for risers
Wind sock (~ 80 cm) to assess the wind during take-off
Repair kit (patches + accessories)
Detailed user manual
6.Care / Durability / Usage tips
Minimise exposure to sunlight to preserve the fabric.
Store the sail loosely folded in a dry, well-ventilated place.
Never store the sail when wet — always dry thoroughly after use.
Cleaning: use only water and a soft sponge, no abrasive products.
Avoid dragging the wing over abrasive, sandy or dusty surfaces.
7.Nova Services & Warranties
Nova offers Trim Tuning (NTT): after a few hours of flying, the line lengths can be analysed and adjusted for optimal calibration.
Full Service Nova: during servicing, Nova checks the entire wing and adjusts the lines to ensure performance and safety.
Warranty: Nova offers a ‘complete package’ of services for every wing sold.
8.Advantages & Strengths
✅ Strengths:
Very good safety/performance compromise for an EN A wing.
Precise handling and consistent feedback thanks to 51 cells.
Low drag (reduced line) = better performance, especially when accelerating.
Good structural stability (Air Scoop) + resistance to creases.
Durable, thanks to high-quality materials (Skytex, Kevlar, etc.).
Designed to last and evolve with the pilot (Nova service).
9.❗ Limitations/Considerations:
Heavier than some ‘ultra-light’ wings: the Aonic 2 is technical, not ultralight.
Potentially higher price (high-end A model).
Requires good trimming to get the most performance — Trim Tuning is therefore highly recommended.
10. Conclusion
The Nova Aonic 2 is an ideal wing for pilots who want to progress: safe enough for learning, but capable of delivering thermal performance and flying comfort beyond simple ‘school’ flying. If you are looking for a ‘high-end’ EN-A wing that combines passive safety, agility and efficiency, the Aonic 2 is an excellent choice.
