The Ultralite succeeded it, setting a recognized standard for the “hike-and-fly” discipline. The fourth generation of the Ultralite is a completely new design incorporating innovative technologies for better levels of performance, glide, perfs, with higher speed, better handling and even easier inflation behavior. The icing on the cake: it is a few grams lighter than the older ones and can be stored in a more compact volume.
For more than fifteen years that we have been developing light wings at OZONE, our wings have started from the summit of Everest, participated in all the editions of the X-Alps and broke bibouac flight distance records around the world. The Ultralite series remains very dear to the heart of the OZONE R&D team, because each of us is a mountaineer or a hiker and fly enthusiast.
Thus, the development of our ultra-light equipment is continuous. We have accumulated a wealth of experience in working with lightweight materials and mastering special construction techniques, which has enabled the development of a wide range of wings, from the very innovative XXLite mono surface wing, to to the victorious LM5 in the X-Alps. The Ultralite 4 incorporates all this know-how to result in the lightest wing we have ever homologated. Because the Ultralite is a true full-size glider, take-off and landing are as easy and safe as with a normal paraglider, allowing you to use it with confidence in the most extreme conditions: at high altitude, in deep snow or on the most difficult take-offs.
The UL4 offers sufficient performance to exploit thermals, soar and go cross country in complete safety and comfort. During its design, our goal was to increase its performance, speed and maneuverability without compromising durability, safety or packing volume. Its reduced weight results from modern manufacturing using a clever mix of Porcher Skytex 27g, Dominico N20D and Dominico N10D which have a long history of durability.
The new profile, internal structure and riser design allow the sail to reach higher speed with better efficiency throughout the speed range, thanks to the 3D design. A 14% reduction in total line drag and an optimization of the air inlet openings have also improved the performance of the wing. The shaped plan, which remains similar to that of the previous Ultralite with identical aspect ratio, maintaining comfort and ease of use, and forms the foundation for the exceptional safety of the UL4. The risers allow for a greater speed range and feature low-friction rings for weight savings.
Approved and available in 4 sizes, the Ultralite 4 is suitable for a wide range of uses; from beginner-intermediate flights to expert flights for a wide range of pilot weights. The Ultralite 4 has been designed for experienced hikers, mountaineers, walk-and-fly enthusiasts or even pilots wishing to have a second wing for travelling.
Although the UL4 is a full size paraglider in the air, the extremely light weight of the wing together with its very compact design allows packing in an extremely small space. Imagine storing your paraglider, harness, rescue and helmet included, between your legs or in the luggage compartment of the plane during your next trip!
